Who this is for
In short, lifework is open to anyone who likes good coffee and is looking for a place to work from home, that isn’t home! You might be:
Local start-ups and freelancers who want to work in a creative co-working space with opportunities to rent out meeting rooms and event spaces

Small teams who want to work near each other without the hassle and excess costs of renting a whole office space
Remote workers from local businesses, SMEs and multinationals embracing flexible working but wanting to be part of a working community close to home
Entrepreneurs who want somewhere away from home to be able to focus and connect with other likeminded individuals
But key to lifework is inclusivity and involvement.
It’s incredibly important that the space is inclusive and reflective of the diverse community around it and we offer equal opportunities to all. This includes the communities’ gender splits, the different ethnic backgrounds, different age groups, job titles, industries to name a few.
It is also equally important that members are keen to get involved with all things lifework communities, from the other members to the local community projects to the events that we put on. If this does not sound like you, then we may not be the right fit.
For these reasons we will be asking for some personal information when individuals look to sign up.
Partnerships
Rustiq Fitness
lifework is excited to be partnering with Rustiq Fitness, an indoor/outdoor gym space offering group training sessions on the neighbouring farm, just a field away here in Winsley. From our launch on 3rd October, Rustiq will be offering lifework members a healthy 20% discount on morning, lunchtime and evening sessions, as well as full membership.
Grown Green
Grown Green @ Hartley Farm is a triple award-winning organic market garden, based at Hartley Farm. Set up by Kate Collyns in 2010 following a two-year Soil Association Horticultural Apprenticeship, vegetables, herbs, salads and flowers are grown following organic standards. Grown Green is a certified organic business with the Soil Association; and is a member of both the Organic Growers Alliance (OGA) and the Landworkers’ Alliance (LWA). Produce is grown year-round in the polytunnels, herb beds and two fields; available to order directly via the Food Assembly in Bradford on Avon, and soon Farm Drop in Bath & Bristol; via the Farm Shop and Kitchen at Hartley Farm and other outlets, and for wholesale to restaurants, pubs, shops, box schemes and other businesses in the local area. We’re excited to build on our partnership with Grown Green and have Kate host seasonal events here at lifework communities.
Little Munchkins
Little munchkins offers a happy, wholesome & stimulating learning environment in offering an affordable, safe & quality childcare service. They create a happy learning journey for children that is memorable and sets them up to be well-rounded individual. All in a way that respects all children, their families and our planet. The little munchkins x lifework communities partnership will help make your childcare arrangements as easy as possible on the days that you want to work at lifework. They will come and collect your little munchkins from Hartley Farm at the start of the working day, take care of them for the entirety of the day before dropping them off in time for hometime.

Hartley Farm
Meet Tom Bowles, the fifth generation farmer at the helm of the 125 acre @hartleyfarm in the village of Winsley, outside Bath on the Wiltshire-Somerset border. Hartley produces organic vegetables and salads and is home to a native-breed suckler beef herd producing grass-fed beef for the farm shop. Hartley is also our lifework home. In looking for a partner for lifework, it was important to us to find an organisation who shared our values. We believe remote working offers a huge opportunity for the local community to get to know more about the people and skills it holds within it and start activating them as a force for good. We were looking for someone equally community-minded, and in working with Tom and Hartley Farm, we’ve found the perfect partner. There lies and important synergy in how our two organisations operate -- striving to build business that balance with the world around them.
Project local
As work presses on inside the barn, we’ve been looking outwards, taking in the nature, people and community of our new lifework home. Over the last couple of months brilliant photographer and longtime friend Willam Cooper Mitchell has been out -largely on foot- in Winsley, Bradford-on-Avon, Limpley Stoke and further afield, exploring and documenting our local landscape along the footpaths and river banks, across fields and along lanes. You may well have spotted him. Will’s work focuses on the natural world and life outdoors, so our project was a good fit. A beautiful archive of photos is building, and we have big plans for them, but for now, here are just a few places and faces you might find familiar...
